Material requirements for fire-retardant formulations

Rheology and layer thickness control

Viscosity, thixotropy, and anti-sag requirements depend on the type of fire-retardant system, application method, and required coating thickness.

Component compatibility

Binders, fillers, and additives must be compatible in the chosen formulation. Their behavior under heat and service conditions must be confirmed by testing the finished system.

Compatibility with primer and substrate

Adhesion depends on the preparation of the metal surface, selected primer, binder, intermediate layers, and application conditions of the entire system.

Filler stability
